Please be advised that as at 1 October 2024 the firm of Robert Barber & Sons will no longer practice and are closed.

Please be assured that if you are clients of Robert Barber & Sons or have previously made a Will with the firm or have any legal documents held by the firm there is no reason for concern.  

Alexander & Co have taken over the care of various matters and will be happy to assist.  The former offices based at West Bridgford and Eastwood are now branch offices of Alexander & Co and are open for business.

What has happened to Robert Barber & Sons Solicitors?

Robert Barber & Sons Solicitors ceased to practice on 30 September 2024.  Alexander & Co Solicitors LLP commenced operations from the offices they previously occupied at West Bridgford and Eastwood on 1 October 2024. 

Will this  impact the progress or outcome of my ongoing legal matters?

Neither the  progress of your matter nor the outcome should be affected if you choose to continue your instructions with Alexander & Co Solicitors LLP.  

Will there be any changes to my solicitor or legal team?

No, the person responsible for your matter, person(s) assisting and office handling will remain unchanged.  If, for any reason, a change becomes necessary you will be fully informed in writing.

Will there be any changes to the fees or billing process?

In appointing Alexander & Co Solicitors LLP as your preferred legal representation and during October 2024 we hope to have written to all of our new clients with confirmation of our Terms of Business.  We are not expecting any significant change in the terms of appointment or billing, but there will be a change in bank details for use in your matter.

To reduce the likelihood of fraud, it is our policy not to accept bank details by email, nor will we provide ours to anyone by this method.  In particular, we will never notify changes to important business information, such as bank account details, by email.  If you receive any communication informing you of a change to our bank details do not transmit funds from your account.  Please contact the person handling your file directly and without delay.  If you ignore this warning, we will not be liable for any money sent to an incorrect account.

Is the new firm keeping all the staff from the previous firm?

The team from Robert Barber & Sons will transfer to  Alexander & Co Solicitors LLP on 1st October 2024.

Will the terms and conditions of my current legal services change?

If you have an ongoing matter, you will receive new Terms of Business from Alexander & Co Solicitors LLP.

Do I need to sign any new agreements or documents?

How do I contact my solicitor after the acquisition?

The contact details for the offices at West Bridgford and Eastwood will remain unchanged.  If you have an ongoing matter you will receive a letter containing all relevant information.

Will the office location or contact details change?

The contact details for the offices at West Bridgford and Eastwood will remain unchanged.

Can I still access my previous legal files and documents?

All legal documents such as Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Title Deeds will remain in safe storage.  If you require access to any such documents or information from your previous legal files please contact the office of your previous instruction.

What happens if I am not happy with the new firm?
